Festival Circolo Brings Circus to Tilburg
Festival Circolo is coming! From 18 to 27 October, Tilburg transforms into a true circus El Dorado. During the autumn holidays, the city will offer a wide range of top-level circus performances, spread across various locations in the city centre.
The performances are more intimate than ever. We come closer together: around a cosy campfire, side by side in the circus tent, in the plush seats of the theatre, or in the welcoming Brasserie, where you can dine with performers and immerse yourself in the enchanting world of circus. With our programme, we invite you to be part of extraordinary performances that explore big themes and deep emotions. There’s something special to discover all over the city. Schouwburg en Concertzaal Tilburg Experience a top-level visual spectacle with La Chute Des Anges by Cie L’Oublié(e) at the Schouwburg. Celebrated director and choreographer Raphaëlle Boitel creates a dystopian universe where performers wander. The question arises: are they fallen angels or people dreaming of flying? There’s only one way to find out… Theatre De Nieuwe Vorst Cia Palimsesta’s Masha blends precise movements and a slippery surface in a performance that slides in as smoothly as sweet candy. Want to break away from the ordinary? Step off the beaten path with Alice Rende’s acrobatic and conceptual work in FORA, a performance that challenges stereotypes. FORA was developed through research among homeless people in Rio de Janeiro, psychiatric hospitals, and historical archives. Inspired by so-called ‘hysterical patients,’ she created a physical vocabulary that defies the usual conventions of flexibility.
Spoorpark In Spoorpark, explore self-love with Mentir lo Mínimo by Alta Gama. Two people, together on a bicycle, embark on a journey of self-discovery. Hilarious, quirky, and ingeniously crafted. Or be mesmerised by Dans l’Espace from the French company Un loup pour l’Homme, where two acrobats invite older women into the arena to explore the connections between acrobatics and aging. The result is a touching and inspiring tribute to the strength of old age.Brasserie This year, we’re making an extra effort to connect you with the performers and the festival’s surroundings. In the newly adapted Brasserie, visitors can dine alongside performers, making everyone feel part of the circus family, if only for a moment. Sit down to a generous dinner buffet and enjoy a fresh, daily changing menu!
