Tilburg is the city of Festival Circolo. Here we work closely with Fontys Academy for Circus and Performance Art to support new talent. Festival Circolo also participates in the Makershuis Tilburg. Together with Dans Brabant, Het Zuidelijk Toneel, Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg and Theater De Nieuwe Vorst, new talent is picked up and supported in their first steps into the professional field.
For the organisation of Festival Circolo we work together with various cultural institutions such as Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg and Theater de Nieuwe Vorst.
Festival Circolo is partner of PLAN for talent development Brabant. PLAN offers the newest generation of circus, theatre and dance makers opportunities to develop and present new work.
Several festivals in Brabant work together in the area of marketing and data analysis. They are supported by Kunstloc Brabant.
Festival Circolo is a member of De Kunst van Brabant, the interest group of artists and cultural institutions in the province.
The two colleges of higher professional education in the Netherlands (ACaPA in Tilburg and Codarts in Rotterdam) are partners of Festival Circolo. For students, the festival offers a platform to present themselves but also to come into contact with professional colleagues and programmers.
Festival Circolo is one of the initiators of the platform CircusPunt. In it, circus organisations and artists have been working together since 2019 to strengthen the position of circus in general. Festival Circolo is one of the places where the Dutch network comes together to exchange knowledge, to educate and to make plans.
The importance of circus cannot be emphasised enough. Therefore, Circolo has joined an initiative of theVerenigde Podiumkunstenfestivals to strengthen the national lobby for this sector.
Circus is international. Many performances are brought from abroad and presented to a wide audience in the Netherlands. It is therefore important to maintain good relations with colleagues elsewhere in Europe and beyond.
Circolo is a member of Circostrada, the network of European circus initiatives, and cooperates with Artcena (Centre national des arts du cirque, de la rue et du théâtre) and CircusNext, an international project supporting young circus talent in Europe.
