Pandax

In PANDAX, Cirque la Compagnie brings five half-brothers together inside a tiny Fiat Panda. They do not share a mother, a childhood, a favourite colour or, most likely, any sense of timing. What they do share is a father. He is in the car too, only now he is inside an urn, fresh from the crematorium.

The journey is meant to be a farewell. Then comes the crash. As if a family gathering weren’t complicated enough already, everything begins to unravel: the car, the bond between the brothers and their carefully maintained composure. Beneath the big top, a tragicomic circus story unfolds, featuring acrobatics, Chinese pole, teeterboard, free-standing ladder, singing and a very small car that gradually falls apart. Three razor-sharp singer-musicians accompany the action, moving effortlessly between jazz, klezmer and electro. Together, these elements create a delightfully off-the-rails circus road movie about brotherhood, in which grief and slapstick collide.
